Depression – It can happen to anyone.

Depression –

  1. Severe despondency and dejection, accompanied by feelings of hopelessness and inadequacy.
  2. A condition of mental disturbance, typically with lack of energy and difficulty in maintaining concentration or interest in life.

Depression is a serious disease that can affect anyone.  It has no face, it knows no color, and/or gender.  So many people are battling this disease but are so afraid to talk about it.  I suffered from Depression and let me tell you it’s not something to take lightly.  I’m sharing this because I believe it’s important to be able to relate to others and encourage those who might share the same struggles, situations, and/or lifestyle.  It’s not easy recognizing this disease because it makes you believe that there is nothing wrong.  It’s not until you take a long look in the mirror and realize that your life has changed, your situation has changed, and your circumstances have changed – and not for the better.  Depression has taken a couple of years from my life and I’ll be damn if it will continue to hold me in bondage.  Please if you are dealing with Depression, there is medicine and counseling out there that can help.  I know, I know, I’m the first one to say, “I ain’t taking that mess!!” or “I ain’t talking to nobody!!” but you know what I thank GOD for the medicine/counseling  that is afforded to us.  Don’t be afraid to make a change and for the better.  If it wasn’t for my mom stepping in and making me realize that I was slowly loosing myself, I don’t know where I would be right now.  So, I say this, never be afraid of what life dishes out to you.  We go through trials and tribulations throughout our lives but the object is to not run away from them but to embrace them and come out victorious!!  I’m living proof that you can beat this disease but you have to want to.  Stay blessed as always and I hope this message touches someone and helps give them the courage and strength to make a change and for the better 🙂
